FAQ

physical therapy

What is physical therapy? How is performance physical therapy different from regular physical therapy?

  • Physical therapy is a medical, hands-on approach to relieving pain and restoring function. Physical therapists are medical experts in musculoskeletal functions. Our physical therapists carefully evaluate your movement patterns. These movement patterns are a way for us to identify mobility limitations, strength imbalances, or movement faults. If you are coming to us because of an injury or pain, we will identify the cause and work hard to eliminate it.

We strongly believe that you do NOT have to be in pain to benefit from physical therapy. If you are experiencing a plateau in your training progress, want to improve your movement efficiency, and prevent injuries down the road, this is for you! Every client’s presentation is unique. Our performance physical therapists will use a variety of hands-on techniques, exercises, and equipment to relieve pain and restore movement as quickly as possible.

The overall goal is to restore unrestricted, pain-free mobility and correct movement imbalances. By addressing these two pillars, we will be able to prevent the injury or pain from reoccurring and finally achieve your performance goals.

Do I need a referral or prescription from my primary care provider before I come to see you?

  • No! Colorado is a Direct Access State. This means that you can come in to see a Doctor of Physical Therapy without a referral or prescription for physical therapy. If we feel that you need a referral we will do so promptly and accordingly!

What types of clients do you work with?

Fitness Enthusiasts & Gym Goers, Barbell Athletes, Youth, High School, & College Athletes, Endurance Athletes, Professional Athletes, & Other Sports

How long should you wait after an injury?

  • Don’t wait! In most musculoskeletal injuries, we can diagnose and treat your injury immediately. You do not need to see your primary care provider first. We will refer you to a specialist if we think you will benefit from it! Also, not every injury needs an x-ray or MRI. We will help you make that determination!

What is the process to get started?

  • Give us a call/email. We offer free 30 minute consultations. Then a 60 minute initial evaluation. Your therapist will tell you what is causing your pain, what the next steps are, how many sessions you will need, and a timeline for recovery.

How many sessions do I need?

  • This ultimately depends on your end goal. If you are simply looking to address the symptom and NOT the cause, you will likely not need as many sessions. If you want to eliminate pain AND address the root cause so that you do not have to deal with the same issue down the road, this may increase the number of sessions you need.

How long is each session?

  • We offer 90 minute, 60 minute, and 30 minute sessions. Our sports physical therapists will prescribe what is necessary for you to get pain free and back to your sport without any fear or physical limitations.

What should I wear to my sessions?

  • Dress comfortably in clothes that allow easy access for the therapist to examine your problem areas.  For treatments and training, we recommend clothing that is comfortable for exercising in such as t-shirts, shorts, compression shorts, and sneakers.

Do you take my insurance?

  • We will gladly explain our insurance options during your complimentary consultation or over the phone. Every plan of care is unique. Based on the findings during your initial evaluation and your athletic goals, your physical therapist will discuss what route of action will work best for you. Colorado is a direct access state for physical therapy. This means that a prescription is not required to begin services. Your physical therapist will discuss your specific case with you at your consultation. Give us a call today at 720-443-3033 to set up your consultation or schedule an appointment here.

What sets your physical therapists apart?

  • Our performance physical therapists have gone through extensive training in the field of physical therapy to earn their doctorate degrees. In addition, they have received vigorous training and experiences in the field of strength and conditioning, working with high level athletes across all sports.
